RivCom Consultant Published in ‘Semantic Web for Business’

A description and explanation of the technical solution used by the MYCAREVENT project to provide a single point of access to automotive repair information has just been published in a new book focusing on the application of Semantic Web technologies to solve business problems. (more…)

AutoRepair.eu.com Moves to RivCom Host

The AutoRepair.eu.com site, set up by CSW Group Ltd and MUL GmbH in the follow-up to MYCAREVENT, is now hosted by RivCom Services Ltd, in parallel with the move by Jay Cousins and Antony Scott to RivCom from CSW. There are no changes in the services offered by the site, and RivCom will be working in partnership with MUL under the same arrangements as applied at CSW.   • XML in the News: how XML is being implemented in newspapers and related media
    (in collaboration with XML UK) at The Magic Circle, London, UK, on Tuesday 7 October 2003

    Speakers at this one-day seminar included David Allen, Alison Clark, David Jones, Dawn Poulos, Ian Davies, Allan Marshall, David Cole and Tony Stewart.

    The day was designed to give delegates an overview of the most important XML news-specific standards, an insight into how some innovative publishers are implementing and gaining business benefit from XML and a look at the threats and opportunities within this dynamic environment.


  • Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) – a hands-on introduction
    (in collaboration with XML UK at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK, on Thursday 21 March 2002

    The instructors at this one-day workshop were David Duce and Bob Hopgood.

    The day was designed to give attendees a hands-on introduction to SVG. There were short introductory sessions on each aspect of SVG covered, followed by hands-on sessions with delegates working on PCs. Attendees received copies of a short Primer on SVG in addition to a workbook for the practical sessions.


  • Graphics, Visualisation and XML
    (in collaboration with XML UK) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot, UK, on 21 February 2002

    Speakers at this one-day seminar included David Brailsford, David Duce, Bob Hopgood, Benedicte Le Grand and Michael Wilson.

    Subjects covered included:
    • The Road to XML-based Graphics
    • SVG Animation and Interaction
    • XML Topic Maps Visualisation
    • Reconciling Web-based and Page-based Digital Documents – Is SVG the Way Ahead?

  • Making the Best Use of XML within the Enterprise (in collaboration with OASIS and the W3C UK Office at the 9th International World Wide Web Conference held in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 15 May 2000

    The workshop brought together leading industry representatives, consultants, analysts and academics to address the cultural and technical issues involved in adopting XML. Key figures from Boeing, DataChannel, Flash Creative Management, IBM, Sun Microsystems and others took part in this prestigious event.
