Research Projects
This page describes two of the collaborative research projects in which RivCom associates have participated.
MYCAREVENT
MYCAREVENT – Mobility and Collaborative Work in European Vehicle Emergency Networks – dealt with new technologies, applications and services for the automotive aftermarket. The 3-year research project was financed by the IST (Information Society Technology) program of the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Program, uniting leading industry partners in the automotive sector with researchers, focussing on service development, process and organization management, e-business, communication networks, and human-computer interaction. For further information, visit the MYCAREVENT website.
As a follow-up to the project, RivCom, have developed the AutoRepair site for news and information on repair information in the automotive sector, in partnership with MUL Services GmbH, leaders in technical solutions for information publishing and delivery in the automotive and other industries. Both companies have been active in the development of technical solutions and standards for the industry, including the OASIS Format of Automotive Repair Information draft specification, and more recently MYCAREVENT.
European Union XML/EDI Pilot Project
As the 1990s drew to a close, organisations
began to realise that web-based technologies could become a foundation
for new forms of business process management and implementation.
RivCom contributed to this evolution by becoming software lead in
the European
XML/EDI Pilot Project, which began in January 1999 and delivered
its conclusions in Brussels in December of that year. This formative
project demonstrated how the XML family of standards could be used
to drive powerful but low-cost eBusiness applications in domains
as varied as container transport operations and primary healthcare.
